JOAN SUTHERLAND PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

How to find us

The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre is in High Street Penrith between the Council Chambers and Penrith Plaza. The entrance is located on the Plaza side of the building through the glass doors at either end of the foyer.

The Box office is located on the ground floor near the bar and lift.

BY TRAIN

City Rail trains and Blue Mountains services arrive at and depart from Penrith Station. Timetables are available from the City Rail. The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre is a short five minute walk from Penrith Station via Penrith Plaza.

BY CAR

Travelling from Sydney take the Mulgoa Road exit from the M4. Continue along Mulgoa Road and turn into High Street. Parking is available at Penrith Plaza and, at night, in the Civic car park adjacent to the centre. Travel time from Sydney CBD can vary. The M4 can become quite congested with commuter traffic on Friday evenings so it is a good idea to allow extra travel time. Generally, the trip by car takes an hour from the CBD.

Are there any restaurants nearby?

There is a licensed bar at the centre and a huge variety of restaurants nearby.

Here are one or two recommendations you might like to try.

Osso Restaurant and Bar in Lawson Street offers an exceptional dining experience and can be contacted on 4722 6102

Danny's on High (near the Joan in High Street) a favourite of the 'Somewhere' cast, offers a relaxed family atmosphere, outdoor dining and great pizzas.

Penrith Plaza is home to a number of cafes and restaurants.
A favourite of ours (during the day) is The Heritage, directly opposite the box office.

Do I need to book my tickets?

Reserved (numbered) seating is the standard for most events at the Joan. So it is generally a good idea to book, particularly for popular events.
