Welcome to the 2013 Kids and Family Season

Last year I had the privilege of participating in one of the world’s major performing arts festivals for children and young people in Japan, along with hundreds of artists and arts workers from all over the world. The festival concluded with ‘The Okinawa Declaration for the Future of Theatre for Children and Young People’, stating:

“Theatre is absolutely medicine for life; therefore all children in the world must experience the wonderfulness of theatre and grow in and through theatre. And
we shall keep making efforts until the day we have accomplished this”.

In 2013 I’m thrilled that children and young people from across our region will have the opportunity to experience the wonder of international quality performance right here in Penrith.

In 2013 at the Joan local children can see extraordinary films from Europe, North America and Australia; critically acclaimed and award winning physical comedy from the Edinburgh Fringe; enchanting chamber music from Austria; and exquisite Australian storytelling scored by Italy’s most popular composer.

And why not make 2013 your year to join the hundreds of children and young people who participate in our weekly workshop programs – whether it be singing, playing an instrument, acting or performing, the Joan is a fantastic place to live your artistic life.
