Mastering Music

Since the introduction of music technology back in the 1990s, the music industry has undergone significant changes in the way music is produced and performed. While performing will always remain a major focus for music, and rightly so, music technology has an important role to play in providing the skills to assist students to become good all round musicians as well as good performers.

The Joan Sutherland Conservatorium of Music has recognised this and is commencing a music technology course designed to encourage, stimulate and engage students in performing, composing, music production, notation, music theory, aural training and film scoring. The course software will be Mastering Music that contains 400+ multi-task lessons covering all 7 of these musical outcomes. This course will provide opportunities for students to be involved within the music industry in areas where they are gifted, which may be other than as a performer.

Mastering Music is designed for ages 8-adult where the principles of how to use this software can be learned in only a few minutes. Thereafter the software focuses you on the learning process providing tips, help pages and video tutorials to guide you through the required steps to complete the task. Using this approach, the teachers and students can work at their own pace thereby providing personalised learning for each student according to their level of experience and ability.
