STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Teacher Deborah Wells has had some of her students achieve some great accomplishments recently.

Xander Ellis has been cast in the musical Wicked, he leaves for Melbourne to join the cast for rehearsals and the show.

Amy McWatters has joined the working band "Rubber Band" which will be touring in September.

Aimee Thurlow is on the short list in both drama and singing for entrance into Newtown Performing Arts High School.

Several other students of Deborahs have been cast in major roles in their school musicals.

Congratulations to all students and keep up the great work.


SENIORS CHOIR COMPETITION

"NAME YOUR CHOIR"

The Seniors Choir is now in its 3rd year and is looking for a new name.

We are looking for a name that is catchy and stands out aswell as describe who they are. The name will need to be gender neutral as we welcome both men and women to the choir.

All entries for "Name Your Choir" are to be submitted via email to Valda Silvy

The most creative entries will be put to the choir to decide which name thgey would like to be known as.

The person with the winning entry will receive 2 complimentry tickets to all performances in the "Six Sundays in Winter" program, valued at $216.00

All entries are to be received by Sunday 31st May

FREE MOZART DEMONSTRATION

Thursday 14th May 6pm

Gil Sullivan presents a Mozart Demonstration.

Due to the success of the Piano Master Class held on Tuesday 5th May 2009, Mr Gil Sullivan is returning to conduct a free Mozart Demonstration for all piano students. Mr Sullivan will perform two Mozart Piano Sonatas from Book 1 and will discuss his interpretations of these works. Students participating will need to bring their copies of Mozart Book 1 so they can follow along with Mr Sullivan's performance. All students, teachers and general public are welcome to attend.

 

FREE PIANO MASTER CLASS

Tuesday 5th May 6:00 - 8:30pm

Gil Sullivan, Australia's only full-time concert pianist will be conducting a piano master class here at the Penrith Conservatorium of Music.

MAVIS PATRICK ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD

The Mavis Patrick Encouragement award has been awarded to Nathan Budd for oustanding vocal ability and commitment, taught by PCoM teacher Deborah Wells. This is an annual award that has been setup by Mavis' two daughters Robyn Hanstock and Karen Budin to acknowledge their mothers substantial contribution to teaching for over 52 years in the Penrith district. The award consists of a perpetual trophy as well as a $150 cash award.

 

ROLAND ELECTRONIC PIANO DONATED

The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre is the proud beneficiary of a new Roland KR-577 keyboard valued at $9000, which has been donated to the centre courtesy of Roland Australia.
