An Introduction to Acting for 5-8 year olds

Have you always wanted to be a clown, magician or maybe even the ringmaster?
Take this brand new acting workshop at the Joan and be part of your very own circus!
Step right up as tutor Naree Shields gives you the chance to become the circus star you’ve always wished to be and together with your friends go on the circus adventure of a lifetime.
Key Skills Taught
Taking on a role/character; using narrative; theatre stagecraft
(please note - this is an acting workshop with a circus theme – participants will not be learning circus skills or using circus equipment)
Meet the Tutor - Naree Shields
A street & circus theatre performer, Naree both devises and performs her own clown/storytelling shows, directs and teaches theatre for young people and has clown doctored at children’s hospitals. Naree has also worked with Ruby Bloomer’s Women’s Circus as well as Circo Blurto Youth Circus and is mum to a four-year-old and a seven-year-old.
What to Bring?
A healthy snack or two; water; comfortable clothing for movement
Where do I go on the day?
Make your way to the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre Box Office – Naree will meet you there.
