A Comedy Workshop for 16-18 year olds

Tuesday 19 January 10am-4pm

Like all artforms, comedy – the art of making people laugh – is harder than it looks. But when it’s there the ability to perform comedy effectively adds a powerful dimension - helping you to stand out from the crowd. In this brand new workshop, tutor Brent Thorpe will teach you a range of skills and techniques to unleash your inner comedian – no funny costumes required!           

Key Skills Taught
Comedy techniques including exaggeration, repetition, timing, delivery and stage presence

Meet the Tutor – Brent Thorpe
A graduate of the Actors Centre (acting), NIDA (writing), and UNSW, Brent has regularly performed at comedy venues in Sydney & Canberra and has been a finalist for major state & national comedy awards. Brent’s credits include The Rocks Ghost Tours (author & director), The Fabulous Punch and Judy Show (Sydney Mardi Gras), and Sydney Comedy Festival (Channel 9).

What to Bring?
Lunch, healthy snacks, water; comfortable clothing for movement

Where do I go on the day?
Make your way to the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre Box Office – Brent will meet you there.
