Q Productions

The Q Theatre Company has a long proud history of developing and producing new Australian works.

Established in 1963, the Q is the second oldest theatre company in Sydney and over the years the company has produced countless productions in collaboration with professional and emerging artists, and the Penrith, Blue Mountains and western Sydney community. 2010 heralds the Q's return to producing with MASH UP, a brand new contemporary theatre piece based on the work of seven iconic Australian poets. The Q will also be in creative development with two exciting projects - 'Loose Kangaroo' and 'the Dream Project'.

 

 
   

MASH UP
Classic Poetry. Fresh Eyes

Three actors from diverse cultural backgrounds, a sound artist and a video artist take a fresh look at poems from seven of Australia’s most celebrated poets.

MASH UP features the poems of AB (Banjo) Paterson, Kenneth Slessor, Oodgeroo Noonuccal, Judith Wright, Gwen Harwood, Peter Skrzynecki and Douglas Stewart.

Loose Kangaroo

A new inter-disciplinary theatre work based on the poems, and life, of Melbourne based poet Sandy Jeffs (who lives and works with schizophrenia).

Loose Kangaroo will be created by Meryl Tankard and Elena Kats-Chernin.

 

The Dream Project

A new contemporary performance about the dreams and hopes of people with a disability from Penrith.

The Dream Project will be created by Alison Richardson and a mixed abilities ensemble in collaboration with the disability community in Penrith.
