Penrith Performing & Visual Arts and The Australian Ballet
THE AUSTRALIAN BALLET DANCE EDUCATION ENSEMBLE
31 May – 4 June
In 2008 ‘The Australian Ballet’ and ‘Penrith Performing & Visual Arts’ joined forces to present a dance education program at ‘the Joan’. This innovative education program is now an annual event and in 2009, over 800 students and teachers took part.
In 2010 the Ensemble’s dance presenters will lead a range of workshops designed for Years 7-12 students as well as professional development and body conditioning workshops for generalist teachers and specialist dance teachers.
Also featured are workshops for Indigenous students and on stage presentations of ‘Talking Doing Dancers’ – a specially choreographed demonstration/discussion that connects with and inspires students as they observe a range of dance styles with elements of vocabulary, history, costumes and staging interwoven.
Key learning areas are: the arts; dance; music; choreography; communication skills; health and physical education and human relationships.
